I need to be sure that the business model of my company is able to scale up with the business, or I’ll be in real trouble when those stressed-out, overworked people holding things together start quitting.
How can I test will the operation break down when my company expands?
How can I be sure that my employees are ready for the expansion?
Scaling up needs to be supported by solid foundations. These foundations come in the form of software platforms, processes, essential personnel, leadership, etc.
Please don't think that a one-size-fits-all approach that you can download will also work for your business. This should be a very individual bespoke process that involves each critical area of the business in producing/facilitating parts of the expansion.
Through reading your question, it appears to me that you already have some awareness of the areas of risk involved in scaling. These and other areas will need to be taken into account when planning and executing your scale-up plan.
Any plan should start with a full understanding of the individual business and should include the support systems, reporting, tools and personnel required to achieve the overall goals of the business as it grows.
