For more than 14 years, being working (high executive positions) for LafargeHolcim (leading cement producer) and its daughter company Geocycle - responsible for all topics related to alternative fuels in cement industry. Lately, decided I need a refresh, and started working as a freelance consultant in Russia for promotion of Alternative Fuels in cement industry, as well started Start-up intrapreneurship project in Artificial Intelligence. My main goal is to disrupt the cement industry, by using the power of Artificial Intelligence, targeting to optimise all-important production and business processes in the company.
Cement Industry, compared to others industries and sectors, adopted relatively low level of digitalization in the current moment. Today the industry is using traditional IT system (SAP, CRM & etc.), which support a systematic flow of accounting documents, business actions and day to day operations, on semi-manual operation (input information done by people) level, which opens field for appearance of human errors. The main challenges for industry are related to cost effectiveness, production excellence, delay in corrective actions in case violation of production process, as well as long subjective and slow decision-making process and last but not least – slow organizational change management.
We believe we that using the power of Digital Tailor-Fit AI, we can solve number of topics for the Cement Producers: Detailed Analysis of Production process, Optimization of production mass balance, Optimization of Raw Materials extraction (preparation and handling costs) and grinding process, Stabilization of burning process (Temperature conditions of burning process, monitoring energy consumption, Usage of Alternative Fuels)., Predictive and Preventive maintenance (analysis of breakdowns, cycles of maintenance and optimization to reduce downtime and spare parts on stock), Logistics module, HR module. My question: What is driving Digitalisation in your companies, and what is triggering further investments to switch from basic IT systems to Artificial Intelligence?
Implementing technology tends to bring the underlying inconsistency of an organisation into stark relief. This inconsistency is most often around the availability of data and the ability to share that data across borders, other subsidiaries of a company and ultimately between institutions.
We recently ran a global tech survey and information sharing between companies was cited as having the biggest impact.
Many industries are starting to benefit from the next generation of technology, harnessing the power of Artificial Intelligence (including Machine Learning) to mitigate some of the increased cost incurred over the past 10 years. This is particularly beneficial when looking at matching data records but is starting to be extended into other more ‘judgement-based’ processes.
