How to select the IT solutions that are the best fit for my company?

22.06.2018 at 20:53h

Hi Patrick, let us assume that you are looking for IT solutions to solve certain existing or upcoming business problems and you are not "simply" dealing with topics like obsolescence, reduction of operational risk, etc. within the IT world itself. If this is the case, the first thing you should be doing is building an inventory of the use cases your organization has. Once you have formalized and clustered your needs, you can go to a second step and look at benchmarks in the market for tools t... read more

How to tackle email overload in my team?

22.06.2018 at 21:00h

You need to identify the reason for the email flood to start with. Maybe it is due to the lack of more flexible communication tools? Or it could be that some tasks require collaborative software which is not available in the organization? Maybe there is no flood at all and it is simply lack of organization in the process of email archiving? If so, it would be convenient to come up with a naming convention on subjects, as well as archiving in PST format, for example. The solution will depend v... read more

How to convince the management of the need of agile software?

26.07.2018 at 22:03h

Hi Gyulyay, I assume your organization is already acquainted with agile and the only problem you face is with a rather old-fashioned set of documentation tools. If this is the case, I must confess I fail to understand why upper management support is needed, unless it is specifically about budget.   Anyway, assuming you are already convinced that JIRA is the way to go, what you should do is build a business case exposing the advantages of this tool and linking it with certain inefficient behav... read more

How to define and remove outliers in a data?

03.10.2018 at 15:42h

Hi Marieta,   This is a pretty standard task in Statistics. You can basically follow two main basic approaches given your context of univariate data:   1) Check if you have gaussian or nearly gaussian data (by visual inspection and hypothesis testing)   If so, you could be using the Standard Deviation method to define outliers. This would typically be values falling beyond three standard deviations from the mean. In any case you can adapt your threshold to the context by having a check on the... read more

How would you run a Change Program to make the company good at change?

31.10.2019 at 00:42h

Hi Marieta,   Without entering into detailed considerations in terms of the different tasks of change management, I would start the process with basic questions in order to sketch an appropriate overview: What do I want to change? Why do I want to change it? When do I want it to change? Who should be changing it with me?   In my experience there are two main challenges in change management: the first one is related with the psychology of organizations, that is, the general behavior of peopl... read more

What's the optimal sample needed for average processing time calculation?

08.10.2018 at 17:25h

Hi Radu,   basically you need to understand and use the concept of the margin of error for the sample mean. Please have a look at this reference which I believe is very self-explaining https://www.dummies.com/education/math/statistics/how-to-calculate-the-margin-of-error-for-a-sample-mean/   If you need any further mathematical detail, just let me know.   Best regards,   Pedro F.
