How to find out competitor's product price in B2B industry?

08.06.2019 at 13:25h

It’s not easy because price monitoring services won't work. I have a company in the outplacement services business and our prices are quite transparent, whereas our competitors' are not.   Based on my experience, here are some of the useful tips I think you should follow to find your competitors' pricing in a B2B industry:   A. Check websites of the small players on the market. I know you probably did a competitive analysis and identified the big companies you're competing with. Usually these... read more

Who can contribute with ideas as I need a bit of help with a SOP?

05.12.2018 at 10:07h

Hi Raluca,   I think you should start by thinking what is the purpose of your SOP (Standard Operating Procedure). I've seen all sorts of SOPs - from one pagers with the process map and best practices, to a 30 pages SOP that follows all the steps in the process. :)   You need to look at the SOP as a cooler, more visual way to share information than just writing it on a paper with bullet points. It's up to you what information you want to share.   Here is what I believe an SOP should be in your... read more

How to change an organization from silo thinking to being Agile?

18.03.2018 at 03:26h

Hi Bogdan,   I have some experiences of implementing change in large teams. I've seen some great examples of teams of up to 150 FTE working great together as one team, but I haven't seen large organisations really embracing the Agile/Adaptive mindset as a whole. I do have an example that pops in mind when thinking about an organization that manages the siloes AND promotes innovation and continuous improvement. That organization is Spotify. There are dozens of articles out there about Spotify ... read more

How to do proper KPI setting?

24.08.2018 at 11:28h

Hi Ionut,   1) The balanced no. of KPIs/individual/process is around 4-5 KPIs.   Remember Focus on everything = Focus on nothing. From my experience more than 5 KPIs is too much but I did meet lots of managers that want to follow too many KPIs. What I do when working with these managers is try to present them the main categories of KPIs: Quality Cost Delivery People Risk   After I give them some examples of KPIs I ask them to put 2-3 KPIs in each category and then to prioritise these so tha... read more

How to increase efficiency of a distributed team using JIRA/Kanban?

17.03.2018 at 22:04h

Hello,   I've been working with many large distributed teams and indeed it's tricky to manage them, especially remotely.   To answer your questions:   1) Kanban is a method used to deliver faster value to your customer. It's mainly used in IT software development, but it can be used in any team that needs to deliver something. The basic principle behind Kanban is to limit work in progress so that you can achieve a faster delivery time (or lead time). You can easily set up a basic Kanban Board... read more

How to implement 5S for electronic files (document management)?

25.09.2018 at 02:18h

Hi Marieta,   Here are my thoughts on adapting the 5S framework for electronic files/document management.     SORT - remove the unwanted, keep the wanted   1. Delete all unnecessary files (like unused files or duplicated files)   TIP - You can easily find unused files by searching in the folder you want to clean. Press "CTRL-F" in the folder. The Search box at the top right of the window will be selected automatically when the tool opens. Click the "Date modified" option under "Add a search ... read more

How to motivate and keep good employees in the company?

21.03.2018 at 02:38h

Hello,   To answer your question regarding how to keep good people in the company, I would say each person has his own criteria to rate a great job. For example, mine are: Management – are they ok in terms of management style? Team members and work environment – is that Career progression – can I have a promotion soon? If not, will this job look good on my CV? Money received – important, but not always the most important Job nature – is it interesting, is it challenging? Company prestige and... read more

How to establish a Remuneration - long term incentive plan

05.06.2018 at 10:54h

Hello,   You have two challenges here: How do you convince  “the Bank's” managers that they need an equity plan (the rationale) How do you implement equity incentive plans and what are some industry standards    THE RATIONALE   I suggest that before presenting “the Bank” any industry standards in terms of remuneration linked to the Bank’s performance, you should first take a step back with them and analyse the needs of their management.   In order to do that, I would use a KANO Model. How to use the Invisible Gorilla experiment in the goals setting process?

21.03.2018 at 02:56h

Hi Milena,   I use the Gorilla experiment as an example when I refer to waste in the process.   I usually tell the audience that 50% of people are so focused on looking at the ball, that they don't see the gorilla. Also, there is a further analysis that says that out of the 50% of people that are not seeing the gorilla, 80% of them are actually looking at the gorilla for up to 1 second, but don’t see it because again, they are too focused on the ball.   The analogy here is that, in real life,... read more

How to introduce Lean A3 problem solving to a team?

26.06.2018 at 16:31h

Hi Mary,   I would use the following structure in your A3 Problem Solving session: (05 min) - Intro - Definition and History of A3 (10 min) - A3 steps - walkthrough (45 min) - Workshop (needs to be prepared before)   1. (05 min) Intro - History and Definition of A3 problem solving   The most basic definition of an A3 would be a P-D-C-A storyboard or report, reflecting Toyota's way of capturing the PDCA process on one sheet of paper. How to begin to tame the data for my use as a Manager?

28.11.2017 at 01:41h

1. Recognize and mitigate the potential for biases. Seek out data that expands the picture or conflicts with the data in front of you. Encourage an external observer to evaluate your assumptions around data.    2. Strengthen your understanding of data management. There are ample free sources of insights on the web, and many organizations offer seminars or workshops on data analytics and business intelligence. Many universities have added courses for this booming field. Keep sharpening your sk... read more

How do you push for a strategic decision taking on MB level?

18.03.2018 at 02:34h

The key for indecisive sponsors is to... provide a decision of your own and see what they think.   McKinsey consultants use a process called The Pyramid Principle (that's also the name of a very good book written by Barbara Minto).   1) Whenever a decision is needed, they tend to start with the answer first To communicate in a structured way with a busy executive, you should start with the answer to the executive’s question first, and then list your supporting arguments. This “top-down” stru... read more

The complexities and multiple activities of businesses, cutting across all country and time zone borders inflict unwarranted chaos. It is here where an [removed] with its far-reaching effect irons out chaos into a systemic design for continuous delivery of positive output for the company. It streamlines and accelerates the business process providing a competitive edge to the company.
